“It’s the wisest choice that we have chosen Chengdu to be our headquarters. You know, the city is known for its strong outsourcing service in the world,” said Darrel Chua, from Singapore and one of the founders of Enveesoft, during an interview with reporters from Gochengdu.cn at Chengdu Tianfu Software Park, where the company is located.

Now Enveesoft is a leading inflight entertainment (IFE) company in the world, with its HQ in Chengdu and offices in Singapore and the US.

The story of success all started with Darrel’s encounter with Wu Xin, a Chengdu native and another founder of the company.

Back to the year of 2007, Darrel, already a leading expert in the game industry in Singapore, went to seek cooperators in Shanghai, where he met with Wu Xin and found, to his delight, they shared a lot in common about startup. This resulted in the decision that they left Shanghai and set up their own business in Chengdu in 2010.

Now Enveesoft is the first certified IFE company in China and the third in the world, with its clients including China Southern Air Holding Company (CSAH) and Xiamen Airlines Co., Ltd. Enveesoft’s cooperative projects with other aviation companies are well underway.

“I first thought to settle the company in Beijing, Shanghai or other coastal cities, but Wu Xin persuaded me to come to Chengdu,” recalled Darrel, “He’s right and we have all the support we need ― the company’s operation and promotion is backed up by strong RD capability and we get it.”

“Chengdu is a city of surprise,” agreed Wu Xin, “The rich human resources, comparatively more agreeable and relaxed environment for life and work of the city would make people more concentrate on what they are doing, which brings about something surprising.”
