On November 2nd, 2015, China's first domestically designed and manufactured large passenger aircraft, the C919, rolled off the production line in Shanghai. The highly anticipated airliner is widely regarded as a significant milestone in the development of the country’s civil aviation industry.
China launched the C919 project in 2008. As the country’s first passenger airliner independently designed in accordance with latest international standards, the C919 features “being safer, cheaper, more comfortable and more eco-friendly than similar models”. So far, the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. (COMAC), manufacturer of the airplane, has received 517 orders from 21 foreign and domestic customers.
For the symbolic large-sized plane, its nose and some avionics systems were made by the AVIC Chengdu Aircraft Industrial (Group) Co., Ltd. and China Aeronautical Electronics Technology (Group) Co., Ltd., which are both based in the city of Chengdu.

C919’s First Nose Rolled off Production Line in Chengdu

On July 31, the AVIC Chengdu Aircraft Industrial (Group) Co., Ltd. finished the assembly of the first nose of the C919 in Chengdu, the nation's first domestically designed large passenger jetliner.
