City’s Imports & Exports Hit RMB100b in Jan-April

Amid the national decline from January to April, Sichuan Province and Chengdu’s imports and exports maintained a certain growth, and Chengdu outperformed all other 20 cities or autonomous prefectures in the province.
China’s total volume of imports and exports decreased by 3.1 percent year-on-year in this year’s first four months, while that of central and western China increased by 17.4 percent to RMB1.1 trillion (approx. US$1833 billion) over the same period of last year, according to official data.
Amid the national decline from January to April, Sichuan Province and Chengdu’s imports and exports maintained a certain growth, and Chengdu outperformed all other 20 cities or autonomous prefectures in the province.
Chengdu’s foreign trade volume in the first four months saw a year-on-year growth of 3.6 percent to RMB107.69 billion (approx. US$17.95 billion), accounting for 78.7 percent of Sichuan’s total, according to the latest data released by the Chengdu Customs on May 16.
