City Maintains Stable Economic Growth in Jan.-Oct.

Chengdu’s economy grew at a steady pace in the first ten months of the year. Eight competitive industries of the city performed well, and the e-information sector reported a growth rate of 26.3%.
Specifically, the added value of the industries above the designated scale rose 8.9% year on year. The light industry increased 6.4%, and heavy industry 10.3%, state-owned and state holding companies 3.7%, and the eight competitive industries 10.8%.
In the 10 months, the investment in fixed assets reached RMB790.99 billion, increasing 14.8% compared with the same period of last year. Of the amount, the investment in the Tianfu New Area (Chengdu Area) hit RMB174.47 billion, up 39.2% over a year before.
The city's total retail sales of consumer goods went up 11.5% to RMB524.06 billion. Of that, RMB503.22 billion, an increase of 11.5%, was from urban residents and RMB20.84 billion, a growth rate of 11.5%, from rural population. During the period, the Consumer Price Index was 102.2.
The city accomplished a gross foreign trade volume of RMB320.12 billion, 52.4% higher than that of the same period of 2016. Among the value, the total export soared 47% to 165.81 billion, and total import 58.8% to RMB154.31 billion.
