Chengdu’s Q1 GDP Ranks 8th among Major Chinese Cities

According to data from statistics bureaus of cities in the Chinese mainland, Chengdu’s GDP in the first quarter ranked 8th among major Chinese cities, with 260.17 billion yuan.
The city's GDP ranked 9th among Chinese major cities in 2015, showed an official report released in January this year. "The growth of the number was contributed by the booming consumption during the traditional Chinese Spring Festival and other holidays in the first quarter," said Liu Zhong, chief statistician of the Chengdu Statistics Bureau. "The rise in the ranking reflects the growing momentum of modern service industry in Chengdu."
