Taichi Carnival Staged in Pingle Ancient Town

A series of activities themed 2014 Taichi-Chengdu Carnival kicked off in Pingle ancient town in the southwest Chengdu’s Qionglai City on Nov. 23.
Nearly 10 thousand Taichi lovers convened in the 2000-year old town to take part in the event which was first held last year in the city. According to the organizing committee, this year’s venue covers the whole town, enabling its every corner to be full of the charm of the old Taichi culture.
Chengdu started promoting the Taichi as a mass sport three years ago, and so far the number of local Taichi practitioners has reached about 2.6 million, according to a latest survey.
