Siemens to Set up Two Global Centers in Chengdu-GoChengdu

Siemens will invest over RMB1 billion to establish a global industrial software R&D center and a smart manufacturing innovation center in Chengdu, according to an agreement reached August 4 between Chengdu Hi-tech Zone and the German company.

The global industrial software R&D center, Siemens's first one of its kind in China, will focus on MindSphere, the company's open, cloud-based IoT (Internet of Things) operating system that lets users connect their machines and physical infrastructure to the digital world. And the smart manufacturing innovation center will primarily serve Sichuan's manufacturing in terms of digital restructuring and upgrading.

"The two centers will not only consolidate the position of Chengdu as the leader in China's process of going global and development in the industrial Internet, but also set an example for Chinese digital users," said Wu Yongxin, Senior Vice President of Siemens Ltd China.
