Sichuan Wins Int’l Sister City Exchange & Cooperation Award-GoChengdu

Sichuan was granted the International Sister City Exchange and Cooperation Award at the China International Friendship Cities Conference 2016.

Sichuan was granted the International Sister City Exchange and Cooperation Award, and its friendship provinces Victoria, Australia and Lodz Voivodeship, Poland, were titled the Friendship Cities for Exchanges and Cooperation with China, at the China International Friendship Cities Conference 2016 convened November 9-11 in Chongqing. The Chengdu Municipal Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office announced the news on November 11.

The International Sister City Exchange and Cooperation Award is conferred biennially with the aim of commending China's provinces and cities with outstanding achievements in their work with their international friendship cities. In October 1982, Sichuan and Washington State, the US, established a friendly province-state relationship. Over the 30 years, Sichuan has been progressing remarkably in the work on developing the ties with its international friendship cities. So far, it has established sister-city or friendly, cooperative relationships with 209 cities of 62 countries throughout the world.
