Shuangliu Airport’s Passenger Traffic Hits Record High

Statistics from Sichuan Frontier Defense Corps released that by December 5 Chengdu aviation port’s inbound and outbound passenger traffic had hit 3 million person-time.
The Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport was open to foreign countries and regions in 1981. Its total inbound and outbound passenger throughput reached 1 million in 2010 and about 2.43 million in 2013. The number rose 39% annually on average from 2010 to 2013. It’s estimated that it will be 3.2 million in 2014.
The Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport has so far opened 78 international and regional air routes including 25 for passenger traffic, 27 for air cargo transport as well as 26 for transit and chartered flights. In terms of international and regional regular direct flights, the destinations have covered more than 20 countries and regions in Europe, North America, South Asia, Southeast Asia and East Asia. Chengdu has been topping central and western China and inland cities in the aspects of air route and destination.

The Chengdu-San Francisco nonstop flight was put into service on June 11.

Schedule of Direct International Routes

A relevant official from the Chengdu Municipal Logistics Office said that Chengdu has so far opened 232 passenger and cargo air routes, including 76 international (regional) ones covering major cities in Europe, the US and Australia-Asia region. In 2015, much more international flight routes will be put into operation, which will solidify the city's status as China's fourth aviation city.

New Int’l Direct Flights to Chengdu to Open

Chengdu is expected to open direct flight routes to Mauritius, Colombo and Moscow in 2015.
