Nation’s Largest Underground HRS to Open in CD’s Airport

A station at the Shuangliu International Airport, an important one along the Chengdu-Mianyang-Leshan intercity high-speed railway, is now under construction, and upon completion it will be the largest underground high-speed rail station (HRS) in China
The Chengdu-Mianyang-Leshan intercity high-speed railway is expected to open to traffic in mid December. It is believed to facilitate the intercity transportation between Chengdu and its neighboring cities.

An official from the Sichuan Airport Group Co., Ltd revealed on November 26 that with a construction area of over 80,000 square meters, the two-story station is located under the surface parking lot of the airport’s Terminal 2.
On the first floor of the station, there is a waiting hall, where more than 10 automatic ticket vending machines are installed, and ticketing booths and 16 gates are set up. Several passageways are connected with underpasses leading to the terminals of the airport.
On the second floor, there are two platforms,where passengers board and land or transfer to downtown Chengdu, Mianyang, Meishan and Leshan. The new-type turnstiles can identify second-generation ID cards and “China Railway and Banking Expresspay” cards, a specialized bank card for paying high-speed railway ticket fees across the country.

Schedule of Direct International Routes

A relevant official from the Chengdu Municipal Logistics Office said that Chengdu has so far opened 232 passenger and cargo air routes, including 76 international (regional) ones covering major cities in Europe, the US and Australia-Asia region. In 2015, much more international flight routes will be put into operation, which will solidify the city's status as China's fourth aviation city.
