Illegal Use of HOV Lanes to be Penalized

Two High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes in downtown Chengdu were put into use on January 23. From February 13 onwards, all HOV lane violators are penalized.
One of the two lanes is along the under-crossing tunnel on the middle and south sections of Kehua Road Middle. If a car pulls into the lane outside the tunnel, the driver will be fined RMB100, and if it pulls into the lane inside the tunnel, he/she will face a fine of RMB200 and a penalty of deducted 3 points on his/her driving license.
The two HOV lanes:
1. The 4.2-kilometer under-crossing tunnel (from south to north) along the middle and south sections of Kehua Road.
2. The 10.9-kilometer sections 1 and 2 of Tianfu Avenue South (from south to north).
Please note:
1. All motor vehicles excluding high occupancy vehicles are prohibited from running on the HOV lanes during the rush hours 07:30-09:00 and 17:00-19:00 on all working days.
2. Vehicles banned from running on the HOV lanes shall be small and mini passenger vehicles with no more than 9 seats. There shall be 2 or more occupants in the vehicles, and the occupant on the co-pilot position shall be more than 12 years old.

HOV Lanes to Reduce Traffic Congestion
