DPCA’s Fourth China Plant Starts Construction

On October 16, the fourth plant of Dongfeng Peugeot Citroen Automobile Co. Ltd.(DPCA) in China started construction in the Beituo area of Chengdu Economic & Technological Development Zone.
The DPCA is a joint venture of French automaker PSA Peugeot Citroen and Chinese auto manufacturer Dongfeng Motor Corporation.
“Sichuan is the forefront for China’s western development, and its provincial capital, Chengdu, is the cornerstone city on the South Silk Road economic belt and Yangtze River economic belt. With solid fondation for the auto industry, strong capacity for the production of auto parts and great market coverage, the city is traditionally a strategic market and major industrial base of DPCA,” said Liu Weidong, vice-general manager of DPCA.
With a total investment of about RMB12.3 billion (approx. US$2.05 billion), the Chengdu plant is expected to manufacture vehicles under the brand names Dongfeng Citroën, Dongfeng Peugeot and Dongfeng, and the first car is scheduled to roll off the production line late in 2016.
The Chengdu plant features “efficient and environmentally-friednly production”. Additionally, making greatest efforts to become a top environmentally-friendly and green plant in the world, it will utlize up-to-date technologies and production process, and its production will be completely automatic.

Volvo: New plant shows confidence in Chengdu
