Chengdu has become one of the first cities in China to be included into the national transit-oriented development (TOD) initiative, sources from Chengdu Municipal Commission of Transport were quoted as saying on August 6.
The Ministry of Transport of China recently announced 50 cities, including Chengdu, as the first ones for the initiative during the 13th Five-Year Plan Period.
Having set a timeline to complete the task by the year 2020, the city is now picking up the pace of developing multi-mode public transport, and promoting eco-friendly and low-carbon commute.
By 2020, Chengdu's public transport mode share will be over 65%, of which that of rail transit will account for 60%. The city ranked fifth among major Chinese cities in terms of the status of public transport, according to a recent report released by Amap, a popular Chinese mobile navigation app. An official from Chengdu Municipal Commission of Transport said that the city's daily subway passenger flow is 2 million, daily traffic of public transport passengers 4 million, and the number of bike-sharing service users 3 million.

Bus Stations

Buses provide the most reliable and inexpensive means for public transportation and knowledge about the bus services in the city will give you an alternative option when you are unable to find a taxi on the street. Besides, riding on a bus will give you a better view of the urban sights when you navigate around the city.
