City to Manufacture World’s Largest Commercial UAV

A Chengdu-based sci-tech company titled Tengoen announced December 17 that it was to develop the world’s largest-ever commercial unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV).
The drone is designed to have a wingspan of 42 meters. With a maximum takeoff weight of 45 tons, a maximum flying range of 7,500 kilometers, and a service ceiling of 12,000 meters, it is capable of carrying 20 tons at the maximum. The machine will be widely applied to such fields as air freight, forest fire control, emergency rescue and relief, high precision remote sensing and commercial space launch, etc.
The company is anticipated to roll out the first product of this kind by the end of 2020.
