The Sichuan Airlines launched September 26 the non-stop air link between Chengdu and Tel Aviv, Israel, with the maiden flight fully loaded with 275 passengers.

The day before the launch, the company and Consulate General of Israel in Chengdu co-hosted a promotional event for the service.
"Israel is a country along the Belt and Road, and Chengdu, where our company is based, plays a pivotal role in the B & R Initiative and development of the Yangtze River Economic Belt," said Mr. Li Haiying, chairman of Sichuan Airlines. He expressed that the flight between Chengdu and Tel Aviv will further the exchange and cooperation between the two cities.
Using Airbus A330 airplane, the bi-weekly round-trip service operates on every Monday and Sunday. The outbound flights departing from Chengdu, numbered 3U8561, leave at 02:15 and arrive at 07: 35, taking 10 hours and 20 minutes. While the inbound ones departing from Tel Aviv, numbered 3U8562, leave at 15:35 and arrive at 06:00 next day, taking 9 hours and 25 minutes (All the time mentioned above is local time).
The service makes Chengdu the fourth city in the Chinese mainland and first in the country's central and western regions with a direct air link to Israel. The route between Chengdu and Tel Aviv is the shortest among all those which have already been open between China and Israel.
So far, Chengdu has launched 58 non-stop international (regional) air links, and at least 2 new ones, including the Chengdu-Cairo and Chengdu-Copenhagen routes, will be open by the end of this year.
