Chengdu Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ), the core part of Sichuan Pilot FTZ, convened its first overseas conference to promote itself, in Singapore November 17.
The event saw an attendance of representatives from nearly 200 local companies.
By the end of October, Chengdu Pilot FTZ had been home to 155 more foreign-funded companies with total registered capital exceeding RMB1.03 billion. At the conference, the Zone showcased the city's spirit and achievements of opening up and innovation.
The establishment of the Sichuan-Singapore Trade and Commerce Committee, the launch of the first non-stop air route service between Chengdu and Singapore, and the ongoing construction of the Singapore-Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park ... Fruitful results have been achieved from the Chengdu-Singapore partnership.
An official source from the Chengdu Municipal Commission of Commerce was quoted as saying that the import-export value between Chengdu and Singapore totaled RMB3.18 billion in the first 7 months of this year, with a tremendous year-on-year growth of 27.2%. By far, 431 companies from Singapore have made business presence in Chengdu, with a gross investment of USD5.72 billion, and 25 Chengdu enterprises have invested USD350 million in the southeast Asian country.
Just prior to the conference, Singapore's Parkway Group came to an agreement with the CDHT Pilot FTZ on building a specialized hospital in the Singapore-Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park.
