Chengdu has become the city most favored by young people among the new first-tier cities in China.
At the China Best Employer Annual Award Ceremony 2019 held on November 29, Chengdu, together with Ningbo, Qingdao and Wuxi, was titled the best city to attract talent in China, due to its great effort and outstanding performance in bringing in talented people.
The award, initiated by zhaopin.com, one of China's most famous online recruitment services providers, and the Social Survey Research Center, Peking University, observes cities' talent attraction, retention and development from the Employer Perspective, and measures the impact of city brands from the perspectives of mobility and vitality of talented people.

According to an analysis report based on big data about Chinese cities' performance in talent introduction, cities each with a population of over 10 million retain the most people, with an average rate of brain drain of about 14%. And the figure of Chengdu is only 7.04%.
With the highest net influx of middle- and top-end talent, Chengdu has become the city most favored by young people among the new first-tier cities in China.
On July 19, 2017, Chengdu released 12 new policies for brain gain, which offer talented people unprecedented benefits involving registered permanent residence, housing and medical treatment, etc. By far, more than 320,000 people each with a bachelor's degree or above have obtained registered permanent residence in the city.
