Asian Reporters Gather in Chengdu for Interview Tour

From September 16 to 22, 20 journalists from 13 Asian mainstream media outlets convened in Chengdu to do in-depth interviews and reports about the city's economic, social and cultural development.
The media professionals visited typical places involving the city’s investment climate, opening up to the outside world, growth in modern industries and tourist sector during the seven-day media program, which was themed “Discovering Chengdu.”
“Chengdu impressed us deeply. We will share the city’s charm and our experience here with the people around us.” All journalists expressed at the summary meeting on September 21.
“Before I came to Chengdu, I knew nothing about the city except that it is the home of panda. Through the week-long trip, I have a better understanding of the city,” said Ananda Banerjee from Times of India. “It’s my first time to China. Chengdu leaves a great impression on me, especially its Jinsha Site Museum.”
A journalist from Malaysian Sin Chew Daily spoke highly of Chengdu’s transportation system and environmental protection measures. “The city’s Bus Rapid Transist (BRT) system let me experience the city’s modern charm,” she said.
“Food plays an important role in cultural exchange. Both Pakistan’s Karachi and China’s Chengdu are famous for their fine foods, which feature spicy flavor. I think the two cities can strengthen their ties in the culinary culture,” said Saher Jahan Baloch from Pakistan’s Dawn.
Sim Min Hwe from the Singapore’s Straits Times said that Chengdu has been gaining increasing influence across the world due to its rapid development in economy and hospitality sector. She hoped that Chengdu and Singapore could enhance exchanges in the cultural and tourist industries via various bilateral events.
