3-time F1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton Visits Chengdu Panda Base

On April 4, Lewis Hamilton, a 3-time Formula One (F1) World Champion visited the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding before the Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix took place in Shanghai.
Mr. Hamilton came to the city for a Sino-UK cultural exchange event and the giant panda, which he has been wishing to see since his childhood.
"To see the giant panda in its hometown has been my dream since I was a little boy. I am an animal aficionado and the giant panda is my favorite. They are so cute and look so soft. I felt so amazed and lucky when I saw the real pandas," he said with a smile.
During his stay at the base, Mr. Hamilton saw a few pandas playing outdoors and took a close look at the newborn pandas in the panda delivery room. He also watched a video about the endangered species and learned to pronounce the Chinese word of the giant panda "Daxiongmao."

International Sports Events to be Held in Chengdu

In 2017, Chengdu will host 17 international, 71 national level and 212 provincial and municipal level athletic contests, which will bring a great visual feast for sports fans.
