11 Hours, from Chengdu to Cairo by Air

On October 23, the Sichuan Airlines opened the direct flight between Chengdu and Cairo, Egypt.

The service operates on every Tuesday and Friday by the Airbus A330 airplanes. The outbound flights departing from Chengdu, numbered 3U8391, leave at 02:05 and arrive at 07: 15, with a total flight time of around 11 hours. While the inbound ones departing from Cairo, numbered 3U8392, leave at 13:55 and arrive at 05:50 next day, with a total flight time of around 10 hours (All the time mentioned above is local time).

The launch of the route makes Chengdu the third city in China with a direct link to Cairo, and the first one in the country's central and western regions to Egypt. Meanwhile, it is the third non-stop service between Chengdu and an African city, following the two linking Chengdu and Port Louis and Addis Ababa respectively. So far, the city's international (regional) air routes has increased to 112.

Statistics show that China is now Egypt's largest trading partner and a major source of foreign tourists. As an important hub along the Belt and Road, Egypt is a popular choice for Chinese companies to invest overseas. The Chengdu-Cairo air service is believed to further the exchanges and cooperation between the two countries in business and trade, tourism, culture and other fields.
