Places for Appreciating the Moon in/around Chengdu

Authors: Go Chengdu

A traditional custom in China to celebrate the Mid-autumn Festival (also called the Moon Festival) is having a family reunion where all family members come together to appreciate the full, bright moon.
The custom began more than 1,000 years ago and later became popular all over China. A full, bright moon is the symbol of family reunion and reminds people of their hometown and their beloved ones.
On the night of the Mid-autumn Festival, some people prefer to celebrate the event with their families at home, while some others choose to go outdoors to appreciate the moon.
Good places in and around Chengdu for appreciating the moon during the Moon Festival:
Wangjianglou Park
As a classical Chinese poem says, “A waterside pavilion is a good place for appreciating moonlight and night scene”. It’s a romantic experience to take a stroll under the silver moonlight in the park along the Jinjiang River.
