Dujiangyan Irrigation System is the only irrigation project system in the world built over 2,000 years ago that is still used for practical purposes. Since the ancient times, this ancient engineering project has had the turbulent water of the Minjiang River under control and played the most important role in irrigating the Chengdu Plain and some other areas in Sichuan.
The site of Dujiangyan Irrigation System presents a magnificent view of the high mountains, the wide river and the impressing architectures. A giant memorial hall stands by the river to pay homage to the founder of the great project, Li Bing, then the magistrate of Sichuan.
Qingcheng Mountains consist of the Front Mountains and the Rear Mountains. The former stands out as a very important Taoist site in China and has a large number of ancient buildings and relics, while the latter boasts the green sights, hotels and local produces. The whole area is famous for its lush vegetation, agreeable environment and fresh air, and is the most favorite summer resort for Chengdu people.
