A group of foreigners in Chengdu took a course on how to play mahjong on June 10. They were taught easy ways of playing mahjong in English during a "crash course" organized by a local cross-cultural platformp-LAOWAI HERE. The sounds of "bamboo" (for Tiáo), "dot" (for Tǒng) and "sparrow" (for Yāojī) could be heard in every corner in the room. The course attracted 16 foreigners from different countries include the US, the UK, France and Spain.
If there's anyone who loves playing Mahjong, it's the Sichuanese. They will play in the street, at home, in the park, and even in the rivers on every possible occasion…anytime, anywhere.
