Young participants and experts from different countries, cultures and backgrounds gather in Chengdu.
The 5-day project, co-hosted by the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation and the Youth Time International Movement, was initiated July 8 in Chengdu. This was the fourth time the event held in China, with the previous ones taking place in Beijing and Shanghai.
Themed "Corporation along the Silk Road, Innovation in Entrepreneurship", the Summer School has an attendance of more than 80 participants, including outstanding young entrepreneurs, college students and experts from nearly 20 countries and regions along the Silk Road. During the event, they will take part in keynote speech, master class, interactive workshops and cultural exchange activities to work out ideas and solutions to some of the most prevalent youth issues and focus on the topic "Integration of Funds and Technology Innovation".
At the opening ceremony, Hang Yuanxiang, executive vice chairman of the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation, exclaimed that the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) is a practical platform to promote the building of common community of shared future for all mankind.
The BRI has been written into the UN, China-Africa Cooperation Forum, SCO, ASEM and other important international mechanism, and has become the most popular public product and the largest platform for cooperation.
"Sichuan is a very important hub along the Silk Road, and holding of the Summer School in Sichuan will help put the local advantages into full play and build a high-quality platform for exchange and sharing," Hang said at the opening ceremony, "In the future, the Foundation will continue to work on enhancing international friendship among young people and building platforms to promote exchange and cooperation, which will contribute to the building of common community of shared future for mankind."
Julia Kinash, president of Youth Time International Movement said, "Sichuan is a very important hub along the Silk Road, not only because of its traditional cultural particularities, but the vitality of creative and innovation industry."
She believed that BRI is an extensive global effort and it will enhance international relationships and co-operation to boost global economic growth and continue to stimulate and expand various existing and new markets, as well as foster new opportunities for young entrepreneurs and professionals and create a positive impact on generations to come.
Dr. Vladimir Yakunin, chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Dialogue of Civilizations Research Institute, and head of the Department of State Governance of the Faculty of Political Science, Moscow State University, delivered the keynote speech entitled as "the Belt and Road Initiative: Opportunities and Challenges". Li Jinfeng, deputy director of the Research Center for "Belt and Road Initiatives" of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, made a keynote speech titled as "Achievements, Problems and Prospects of the Belt and Road initiatives"
The Summer School will last till July 12. The ambassadors and the trainees will also visit University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Haite Group, and some historical and cultural locations such as Wide & Narrow Alleys and Dujiangyan Irrigation System around Chengdu.
In December 2010, the Youth Time International Movement (YT) was founded in Prague, Czech. It was originated from the Rhodes Youth Forum, aiming at building a platform for the youths between cultures and generations. Ever since 2011, Youth Time International Movement has organized the Summer School in Russia, Czech, Croatia, Italy, and Germany. The YT has cooperated with China Soong Ching Ling Foundation on hosting the program in Beijing and Shanghai.
