Jake Homovich: I Find It Extremely Inspirational

Authors: Go Chengdu

“Chengdu is just not only an entity comprised of metal and asphalt, but also of flesh and bone,” said Jake Homovich, a photographer from the US, at an interview with gochengdu.cn on November 19.
Jake is a participant of the Focus on Chengdu Photo Contest, which was launched in November 2017. Over the past year, the event has collected more than 1,000 photos reflecting the city's livability, elegance, fashion, as well as inclusiveness from the perspectives of foreigners.
According to Jake, who is an expat living in Chengdu for more than 5 years, what attracts him most about the city is that it's always changing: the people, the buildings, the roads, the sky. "Like a labyrinth, nothing is ever the same, and that is the same for the people."
To date, Jake's photo Secrete Heat has racked up over 1,300 likes on gochengdu.cn. "I'm mostly drawn to people as a photographer, and most drastically their emotions and their specific place within Chengdu. I'm fascinated by the mosaic of different individuals that make up this city," he noted.
"I find this city extremely inspirational," In his eyes, every new street in Chengdu is like a work of art, with the opportunity for something beautiful around every corner, "You just need to know where to look," he added.
