Du Fu's Thatched Cottage Museum
Lotus blossoms at Chengdu Du Fu's Thatched Cottage Museum are now in full bloom. The park-like museum, the former residence of Du Fu, a great poet in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), is presenting a beautiful summer landscape of blooming lotus flowers.
Currently, over 30 species of lotus are seen in the park. Gentle breezes, red walls, Chinese watercolor-like lotus pond, luxuriant groves of bamboos, pots of Sichuan-style landscape bonsai, Buddhist pagodas ... It is an ideal place in the city center to view lotus flowers.
As one of China's top 10 famous flowers, lotus is symbolized as a gentleman among flowers and has been eulogized by numerous Chinese poets and literary men from ancient times to the present. Du Fu wrote a lot of verses about the flower.
