Oriental Beauty Park
This August, Chengdu is about to experience a tidal wave of electronic music because the Budweiser STORM Music Festival's annual tour will kick off with its first stop at Chengdu Oriental Beauty Park, Aug. 12-13. Big names of the world's arena of electronic music, including Far East Movement, Showtek and Kura, will make presence at the event.
Far East Movement
Asian American hip-pop dance group Far East Movement, with dance music deep rooted in its DNA, has become one of the major dance powerhouses around the world by its early breakout hit Like a G6 released in 2010.
Wouter Janssen and Sjoerd Jassen have been making music for over a decade. It was in 2012 when they truly catapulted onto the global dance scene with the release of Cannonball. They followed up with an even bigger release a few months later when they dropped Booyah, a track that resulted in a top 5 spot in the UK singles chart and their first major worldwide hit.
Signed to worldwide electronic music powerhouse label, Spinnin Records, Kura is currently one of the most hyped DJs and producers in the world. He placed 51 on DJ Mag's Top 100 in 2016.
Swanky Tunes
This legendary trio pioneered the progressive and electro-house sounds and made entry at 27 on the DJ Mag's top 100. Not only did Swanky Tunes receive the award for highest climber on the charts, they also have received nearly every electronic dance award possible in their home country of Russia.
While he may be young, 17-year-old DJ/producer Curbi isn't new to the electronic music game.
Al Rocco
The well remembered candidate Al Rocco from the most popular talent show "The Rap of China" will also appear in Chengdu. He has become a household hip hop name with his track 赢 Ying hitting over 2.5 Million views in under 24 hours.
