Wenshu Monastery
The Laba Rice Porridge Festival is celebrated on the eighth day of the last lunar month in China, which falls on Jan. 24 this year. According to the Chinese tradition, people should eat Laba rice porridge (mainly made up of many kinds of rice, beans, peanuts, dried fruit, and lotus seeds, etc.) on this day.
The Wenshu Monastery will offer 300,000 bowls of Laba rice porridge for free to local citizens (100,000 to be delivered inside the Monastery on 23-25 January, and 200,000 outside the temple on 20-24 this month).
The Wenshu-Monastery-made porridge is very popular among local residents for its genuine ingredients and delicious taste. Cooked with over 14 different ingredients, including rice, Chinese wolfberries, dried lily root, jujube, and lotus seeds, etc., it is boiled for at least 2 hours.
