The Echo of Civilization: Ancient Treasures from Afghanistan will be staged at Chengdu Museum Feb. 1-May 6, to display 231 pieces/sets of cultural relics collected by the National Museum of Afghanistan, including a golden crown studded with turquoise stones, hair accessories and magnificent gold necklaces unearthed from four major archaeological sites in Afghanistan - Tepe Fullol, Aikhanum, Tilla Tepe and Begram.
The National Museum of Afghanistan opened in 1919 and once had a collection of over 100,000 items dating back several millennia, most of which had been looted, destroyed or even disappeared in decades of wars in the country. The 231 pieces/sets of exhibits selected from those survived from chaos in the country will unveil a mysterious and legendary ancient Afghanistan.
