The exhibition themed Shiwan, a Gorgeous Pottery Kiln highlighting 109 pieces/sets of pottery art works from Foshan Museum, Foshan Chancheng Museum and Guangdong Shiwan Ceramics Museum is underway at Chengdu Museum.
The pottery ware produced by Shiwan Kiln, located at Shiwan Town of Foshan City, Guangdong Province, is famous for rich glaze colors. Pottery making in Shiwan area can be traced back to the Neolithic Age, and the pottery production in Shiwan saw an increasing scale in the Tang (618-907) and Song (960-1279) dynasties. In the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1912) dynasties, the production there hit its heyday.
To make visitors better understand the Shiwan Kiln-made pottery, Huang Weiwen, a researcher from the Palace Museum, will give a lecture on it at 10:00am-11:30am on July 23 at the video hall of Chengdu Museum.
