Chengdu Art Academy(80 Xiatongren Street)
An exhibition featuring lacquer paintings by artists from southeast China's Fujian province is underway at the Chengdu Art Academy.
Lacquer art is a traditional Chinese art form with a history of thousands of years which can be traced back to the neolithic period. Fujian is one of the birthplaces of modern Chinese lacquer art. Fujian bodiless lacquerware developed in the 18th century, and subsequent generations of Fujian lacquer painters have been making unremitting explorations on the materials and patterns of the painting while inheriting those of their predecessors.
