So far the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport has opened 248 passenger and cargo flights, including 84 international (regional) routes covering major cities around the world.
The Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport is currently running 84 international (regional) routes, linking Chengdu with major cities around the world, including San Francisco, London, Moscow, Abu Dhabi and Melbourne. Chengdu has planned to build a new airport, making it the third city on the Chinese mainland to have a second airport, after Beijing and Shanghai. Next year, more international flight routes will be put into operation.

Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport

All the domestic and international flights land at the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, about 16km from downtown Chengdu. There are taxi and shuttle bus services between the airport and the city center.

There are two terminals in the Shuangliu International Airport: Terminal 1 (T1) and Terminal 2 (T2), which host the airlines respectively as follows:

Passport holders of 51 countries and regions will be granted a visa-free stay in Chengdu of up to 72 hours when taking an international transfer via Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport.

1. Route: East Railway Station — Chengdu Airport;
2. Time:7:00 — 19:00;
3. Stops at the airport: Gate 3 in T1 and Gate 5 in T2;
4. Major Stops: South Railway Station (East), Sichuan Normal University & East Railway Station.

1. Route: Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center — Chengdu Airport;
2. Time: 6:30—19:00;
3. Stops at the airport: Gate 3 in T1 and Gate 5 in T2
4. Major Stops: Shuangliu International Airport, Airport Road & Chengdu Century City New International Convention and Exhibition Center.

The government of Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, is holding a week-long promotion in London to attract visitors to the city, known as the home of giant pandas. BA launched a direct route between London and Chengdu in September, originally with three flights a week. This month, it increased to five.

More Information on the Flights

On April 12, 2014, CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) released a communique regarding the statistical productivity of china’s airports in 2013, publishing the business data including passenger traffic and cargo throughput in 2013. The statistics show the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport ranked fourth in the country and Chengdu is praised as the “Fourth Aviation City in China.”
