Food critic Brett Martin from GQ magazine (Gentlemen’s Quarterly) recently named a Chengdu snack, the Sliced Beef and Ox Tripe in Chili Sauce (夫妻肺片, Fuqi Feipian in Chinese), served by Pepper Twins, a Sichuan food restaurant in Houston, the US, as the “Appetizer of the Year” in 2017, and gave the snack a new appellation Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

"The dish is a numbing, burning, textural masterpiece, and the kind of thing a budding empire is built on," Martin wrote.
Sichuan cuisine is gaining popularity in foreign countries in recent years for its long history and rich, subtle flavors. "I have been coming here ever since this (the Pepper Twins restaurant) was opened. When my friend from China took me here, she said it's exactly how it is in China. It's very like the home-style cooking, and it reminded her of a restaurant in Chengdu," said Steven Sharifi, a data engineer at General Motors in Austin.
In addition to Fuqi Feipian, more Sichuan dishes are popular among food lovers around the world, such as Fish-flavored Pork (鱼香肉丝), Mapo Tofu (麻婆豆腐), Chicken with Chili Sauce (宫保鸡丁) and so on.
In order to promote authentic Sichuan cooking, let's have a brainstorming and try to give some of the Sichuan dishes appealing and more "international" names.
