The Zhaojue Monastery plays an important role in the promotion and development of Buddhism in China.
Known as the First Buddhist Congregation in western Sichuan, the Zhaojue Monastery (Enlightenment Monastery) was initially built in the early Tang Dynasty (618-907). It plays an important role in the promotion and development of Buddhism in China, and is regarded by many Buddhists in Japan and southeast Asian countries as the ancestral site of Buddhist temples in their own countries.
