No need to travel long distance to see the sea of clouds and the sunrise, or ride in the cable-car for the alpine sights and have fun in snow-ice sports! Just about 100 kilometers away from downtown Chengdu there is the snow-ice resort of Xiling Snow Mountains in Dayi County in western Chengdu, which is a national 4A tourist scenic spot and satisfies all your dreams for sightseeing and snow sports.

Transportation

Self-drive: drive along Chengdu-Wenjiang-Qionglai Expressway and follow the instructions on the signs along the way, turn away at Dayi East to go to Xiling Snow Mountains. The road condition is good all the way. Time allowed, you can have a stop at Anren Ancient Town during the trip.

Just upon the arrival of the skiing field of Xiling Snow Mountains, the road forks when you spot the sign of the skiing field, with one road leading to the field on the right and along the bridge and the other upslope leading to the front mountains of the scenic area.

It takes about one day for the journey in the front mountains area, which features the Dafeishui scenic spot with a high forest coverage. The admission to the spot is RMB30.

Bus: shuttle buses from Chengdu East Long Distance Bus Teiminal, Xinnanmen Tourist Distribution Center and Chadianzi Bus Station to Xiling Snow Mountains.

Lodging

Lodgings are available around the scenic area and in the county proper, with the facilites in the county proper more price friendly. Recommended are the hotels at Huashuiwan Hot-spring Resort, very close to the scenic spot.

Local foods

The most famous local dish in Dayi County is the Pork Intestines with Blood-curd, hot, spicy and appetizing, which is served at many restaurants along the way to Xiling Snow Mountains. Stands selling rice noodles, smoked pork ribs, barbecue corns and so on can be found around the gate of the scenic spot. Prices are reasonable. We also suggest you take food and water by yourself to go up the mountains.

Admission and activities

Admission to Xiling Snow Mountains is RMB120 (RMB160 during the New Year's Day holidays and the Spring Festival).

Cable-car at Yuanyangchi: RMB120 round-trip and RMB70 one-way.

Cable-car at Riyueping: RMB120 round-trip and RMB70 one-way.

Package ticket: RMB288, including admission to the skiing resort and the round-trip cable-car fee.

The cable-car ride takes about 10 minutes and if in winter, you could have a chance to enjoy the overall view of the alpine sights of the green trees and white snow world.

The scenic spot provides a plenty of snow-ice sports programs, such as making a snowman, snowball fight, snow motor, skiing and dog-drawn sledge.

You also have spectacular views of the sunrise, the sea of clouds, the deep blue sky, all at the scenic spot.

Not far from the skiing field is the famous Yinyangjie (Dividing Line of Yin and Yang), a giant precipice rising high above, with one side bathed in the sunshine and the other veiled in thick mist.
