Foreign Guests Share Impressions of Chengdu

Authors: Go Chengdu

During the 2018 World Cities Culture (Tianfu) Symposium held in Chengdu June 20-22, some foreign guests shared their impressions of Chengdu as well as their views on how to further develop the city’s cultural and creative sector on the first day of the event.
Mr. Bill Cotton, deputy mayor of Bournemouth, the UK, described Chengdu in one sentence —"Chengdu, can do!" It means that the city is developing rapidly and full of opportunities, he explained.
Mr. Cotton pays lots of attention to Chengdu's fashion sector. "We will communicate and exchange views with industry leaders from Chengdu's fashion circle, and expect to cooperate with them in the near future. We also look forward to seeing Chengdu's fashion designs on the global fashion stage."
Mr. David Adam, founder of Global Cities, a consultancy which helps commercial and public sector organizations, cultural and educational institutions to build successful business strategies in global markets, spoke highly of Chengdu. "This is my first time to visit Chengdu, and it is a fast growing city as I expected," said Mr. Adam. In his opinion, Chengdu is an ideal place both for business and living.
Besides, Mr. Adam gave some advice for the cooperation between Chengdu and other member cities of WCCF, "Chengdu should further the ties with its WCCF peers in the innovation-driven fields. In terms of higher education, it could conduct more international exchange programs for students. As to the tourist sector, it could promote the Tianfu Culture worldwide, by way of exhibitions, as well as music and food festivals."
