The GaWC (Globalization and World Cities Research Network), a leading academic think tank on cities in globalization, released The World According to GaWC 2018 on November 14. In the newly-released report, Chengdu ranks 71st, topping all China’s new first-tier cities.
The World According to GaWC 2018
Since 2000, GaWC has published seven editions of The World According to GaWC. Recognized as one of the most authoritative reports about global cities, it measures them in terms of their advanced producer services using the interlocking network model, and classifies them into such levels: Alpha++, Alpha+, Alpha, Alpha-, Beta+, Beta, Beta-, Gamma+, Gamma, Gamma-, High sufficiency and Sufficiency.
In the last report, Chengdu was the fastest rising one among all cities as it leaped from "High sufficiency" to "Beta-". While the latest report shows that Chengdu also saw significant growth from 100 to 71, jumping from level "Beta-" to "Beta+".

Chengdu on GFCI 23 Rankings Again

Z/Yen Group, a London-based commercial think tank, in collaboration with the China Development Institute (CDI), a think tank located in Shenzhen, south China's Guangdong Province, published the 23rd edition of the Global Financial Centers Index (GFCI 23) on March 26.
