When thinking about Pixian, a county located in northwest Chengdu and about 40 kilometers from downtown Chengdu, the first thing that comes to many people's minds is Pixian Broad Bean Paste, which is acclaimed as "the soul of Sichuan cuisine," and an indispensable flavoring for lots of famous Sichuan food. The processing method of the paste has been listed as a national intangible cultural heritage item in China.

On December 7, the Sichuan Provincial Government announced that, with the approval of the State Council, Pixian County was renamed as Pidu District.

Jingrong Startup Hub

In early 2015, Chengdu initiated the Tianfu Entrepreneurship Action Plan in 2015 soon after the country had launched the national Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Initiative. A maker space called Jingrong Start-up Hub was thus built in the district.

Jinrong Start-up Hub is one of the major maker spaces in Chengdu Hi-tech Industrial Development Zone, with the Sino-Korea Innovation and Startup Park as its core part. Covering an area of nearly 63,334 square meters, it focuses on industries involving mobile Internet, cloud computing, big data, 3D printing and Internet+.

Home to Many Fortune Global 500 Companies

Huawei, the world's leading global information and communications solutions provider has set up its research center in the district.

Intel built its chip testing and packaging facility in the district, which is the company's largest chip packaging plant throughout the world, and produces half of its microprocessors for mobile devices.

The world's largest semiconductor producer Texas Instruments set up a manufacturing base in the district, too.

The science and technology park of Foxconn, the world's largest contract electronics manufacturer, is located in the district, and specializes in producing IT products including iPads and iPhones.

Plenty of Tourist Resources

With a long history and rich culture, the district owns plenty of tourist attractions and places of historical interest, including Sandaoyan and Wangcongci. As the cradle of the agritainment in China, it also has a large number of rural tourist resources.

Urban Eco-agriculture

As part of the Dujiangyan gravity irrigation area, the district enjoys very good agricultural production conditions. Being a national model for agricultural industrialization, it prioritizes the development of organic farming, agritourism, headquarters of agricultural technology and deep-processing of agricultural products.
