Chengdu, an Ideal Place for Startups

Wu Xin, general manager of Chengdu-based Envee Inflight Entertainment Co., Ltd., led the company to explore untouched business opportunities in the air ingeniously.
"We are always committed to developing inflight entertainment products with Chinese characteristics," Wu said, "We have already provided games and applications with typical Chinese characteristics to Boeing Dreamliner aircraft, and we hope to offer a complete set of inflight entertainment system with great user experience to Chinese passengers." Wu noted that different modes should be applied to satisfy different purchasing behaviors of domestic and foreign passengers.
"For the time being, most operators, hardware manufacturers and airlines accept the market status and business models of the air WiFi service in China. In traditional business model, aviation companies pay for the inflight entertainment service and then transfer the cost to airfares. In contrast, the Internet breaks the barrier between users and content producers, and creates a new business model which allows customers to directly consume whatever they like. We have been considering to add online stores to our application system, so that customers can enjoy shopping online while they are taking a plane. "
Envee does not ever stop and will never slow down its pace of innovation. "Once full inflight coverage is allowed by the government, we could immediately launch the platform ahead of others to provide Air WiFi content in the inflight entertainment system." Wu said that the rapid development of Envee has laid a solid foundation for its future expand. He hopes to create a Chinese aviation software brand to promote the development of Chinese civil aviation industry with a significant influence in the world.
