Chengdu to Build Center for Agricultural Sci-Tech Innovation-GoChengdu

The Ministry of Agriculture of the PRC has approved the establishment of a national center for agricultural sci-tech innovation in Chengdu, sources from the Chengdu municipal committee of rural affairs revealed the news on February 27.

The center, to be located in Tianfu New Area, will be the first one of its kind in western China and the third one in the country.

Committed to building a cluster of world-class agricultural sci-tech infrastructure, the city will introduce leading agricultural research institutions into the center from home and abroad, and organize 20 to 30 teams focusing on agricultural sci-tech innovation. Currently, a team of experts from the agricultural research institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, has started working in the Tianfu New Area, and the center's core area is now under planning.

The 3rd Sichuan Agricultural Expo & Chengdu International Urban Modern Agricultural Expo, which was open on Nov. 19, is being held and will last until Nov. 23 at the Chengdu Century City New International Convention & Exhibition Center.
