On April 12, 2014, CAAC (Civil Aviation Administration of China) released a communique regarding the statistical productivity of china’s airports in 2013, publishing the business data including passenger traffic and cargo throughput in 2013. The statistics show the Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport ranked fourth in the country and Chengdu is praised as the “Fourth Aviation City in China.”
World Routes Returns to China in 2016
Chengdu wins highly competitive bid to secure prestigious aviation event in 2016.
As of April 13, 2014, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport successfully won a highly competitive bid to bring World Routes, the 22nd World Route Development Forum, to Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, announced Katie Bland, Director of the Routes business for UBM. The forum is scheduled to be held at the Chengdu Century City New International Convention & Exhibition Centre on September 25-27, 2016.
The event is expected to attract more than 3,500 delegates from 350 airlines, 1,000 airports and 300 tourism authorities from more than 125 countries or regions worldwide.
About Routes
World Routes - The World Route Development Forum - is the world renowned annual airline and airport networking event. It facilitates and encourages the role of airports in the development of air services through organizing global and regional specific airline/airport networking forums.
The World Routes forms the essential global gathering for aviation organizations from across all continents and countries, bringing together the largest range of airlines, airports, tourism authorities and civil aviation authorities.

An increasing number of people are taking international flights from Chengdu as the city seeks a more global presence. Latest data from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport show that the passenger load for flights from Chengdu to London and Amsterdam stayed beyond 90 percent from Jan 1 to 10.
