City Sets up Music, Culture Fund

Chengdu established a fund of RMB5 billion September 20 to promote its music and culture industry.
As the first one of its kind in China, the fund from social capital is aimed to promote the development of local music-related companies, and facilitate the gathering, production and distribution of original music in the city.
"It will not only benefit local residents, but also boost the competitiveness of the city's music sector," said Mr. Lin Geer, President of Sichuan Conservatory of Music.
