City Brings in RMB3 Bln at 2019 GCEC Chengdu

Chengdu is seeing robust growth in the cross-border e-commerce sector.
Guided by the Sichuan Provincial Department of Commerce and the Chengdu Municipal Government, and hosed by the Chengdu Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the 2019 Global Cross-border E-commerce Conference (GCEC) Chengdu was convened here in the city on June 5.
The event brought together guests and experts from all walks of life, and top executives of leading Chinese cross-border e-commerce service providers, including Tmall, Netease Koala and, as well as those of such overseas e-commerce platforms as Lazada, Jumia and Wish. At the conference, Chengdu signed 13 agreements on cooperation with 12 companies, with a total investment of nearly RMB3 billion.

In 2018, Chengdu's cross-border e-commerce transactions exceeded RMB11 billion, increasing by 120% year-on-year and maintaining a strong momentum of rapid growth. It is the third consecutive year that the city has achieved more than 100% growth in the industry after the China (Chengdu) Comprehensive Cross-Border E-commerce Pilot Zone was approved by the Chinese government in 2016. Relevant official data indicate that as one of the country's 13 comprehensive cross-border e-commerce pilot zones, Chengdu is seeing robust growth in the cross-border e-commerce sector, with the further development of the zone.
