Chengdu Tops China’s Happiest Cities Ranking

Chengdu ranked No.1 on this year’s list of China’s top ten happiest cities, which was released by Oriental Outlook magazine under Xinhua News Agency, at a theme forum convened December 7 in Beijing.
The city was also granted the best practices award, and its government won the special contribution award at the event.
The "China's Happiest Cities" ranking survey has been conducted by Xinhua News Agency's Oriental Outlook magazine and Liaowang Institute for 11 straight years. With the participation of 986 million people in total so far, it is the most influential and authoritative public survey in China. The one this year focuses primarily on Chinese cities' comprehensive strength and remarkable achievements in public services, social programs, as well as people's quality of life, etc.

According to a provincial conference on the economic performance of Sichuan’s travel industry in this year’s first half, held on August 1, Chengdu welcomed more than 93.83 million inbound tourists during the past six months, up by 5.20 percent year on year, with a total revenue of roughly RMB12.95 million from the travel sector.
