The large city promotion program "Creative Chengdu", sponsored by Chengdu Municipal Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and Chengdu Municipal Commission of Commerce, will be staged in three Nordic countries including Denmark, Finland and Sweden August 18-27.

As one of the important activities in Denmark, an exhibition launched by Chengdu iBox Creative Base will show brilliant works designed by Chengdu designers.

This July, Chengdu iBox Creative Base initiated the “Bringing Design Works to Nordic Countries” Innovative Design Competition. About 60 designers, artists and craftsmen from Chengdu participated in the competition and showed their works on www.gochengdu.cn, an official website of the city government.

Entries of the competition went through the evaluation by an international jury, which began on August 2, and a set of ceramic tableware won the top prize.

“It combines the vintage style and modern design concept,” said Yi Fei, one of the designers of the prize-winning works.

Mr. Steward Dodd, one of the jury members from Architectural Association School of Architecture, said that this work is an embodiment of Chengdu’s traditional culture and the fashion trend.

An official from Chengdu Municipal Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office revealed that 10 of entries and prize-winning works will be exhibited in Copenhagen, and designers of the prize-winning works have a opportunity to take part in official activities in Copenhagen and conduct exchanges with designers in Denmark.
