Chengdu to be Venue for FIE Women’s Epee World Cup

Following the successful bid for the 2019 World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) and 2021 Summer Universiade, Chengdu recently won the bid to host the FIE Women’s Epee World Cup (China) for five straight years.
The event, approved by the International Fencing Federation and General Administration of Sport of China, and organized by the Chinese Fencing Association and Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Sports, will take place at the Eastern Suburb Memory on March 22 to 24.
Nearly 150 fencers from about 20 countries and regions across the world will take part in the 2019 FIE Women's Epee World Cup, which consists of individual and team competitions.

Ms. Wang Junyan, Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Fencing Association, expressed strong confidence in Chengdu's ability to hold the event well. "We have a full understanding of Chengdu, which is highly experienced in hosting international sports events and whose local governments and sports authorities support strongly the event. And there are many fencing enthusiasts and 13 fencing clubs in the city. So I believe that the event will be very successful and can enable more local citizens to fall in love with fencing," she said.
