Chengdu Pilot FTZ Makes Good Start in 2017-GoChengdu

Since its operation on April 1, 2017, the Chengdu Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) has achieved remarkable results.

Last year, the Zone saw 19,200 newly-registered companies, including 211 foreign-funded ones, with a total registered fund of RMB295 billion.

The efficiency of the Zone's customs clearance was increased as its inbound clearance time was reduced by 48% on average, and outbound 44%, compared with those in 2016.

The passenger traffic of Shuangliu International Airport rose to 49.8 million person-time and cargo throughput 640,000 tons in the past year. By far, the airport has opened 315 air routes, including 104 international (regional) ones, linking 220 cities across the globe.

With a year-on-year growth of 42.2% in 2017, Chengdu's import and export volume through the airport hit RMB274.65 billion, representing 70% of the city's total. And the foreign trade value through the Chengdu International Railway Port in north Chengdu's Qingbaijiang District, was valued at RMB19.71 billion, 3.6 times higher than that a year ago.

The city realized a gross foreign trade volume of RMB394.18 billion last year, up 45.4% year on year, topping China's deputy provincial cities in terms of growth rate.

Malaysia National Pavilion Settles in Shuangliu Pilot FTZ

An agreement on the launch of Malaysia National Pavilion (MNP) which will be located in Chengdu Shuangliu Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ) was reached August 14, witnessed by representatives from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry of Malaysia, Embassy of Malaysia in Beijing, and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.
