Chengdu Children Show Local ICHs in UN Headquarters

Recently, students and teachers from the Chengdu Dongchenggen Street Primary School stunned the American audience with their wonderful performances featuring typical intangible cultural heritages from Sichuan.
The students performed many kinds of Sichuan vocal folk art forms including Qingyin (having a history of more than 200 years and is known for its soulful signing and intoxicating melancholy melodies), Yangqin and Zhuqin (both are traditional storytelling and singing arts performed on dulcimer and other traditional instruments), all of which are state-level intangible cultural heritages (ICHs), at the United Nations headquarters. They also showed the national cultural legacies at the 6th China Culture & Chinese Cultural Heritage in USA & The 4th Spring Blossom Grand Ceremony at Lincoln Center.

About the 5th IFICH

The Fifth International Festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage (IFICH) was open in Chengdu on September 11. To last till September 20, the event featuring over 400 ICH items and nearly 500 ICH inheritors from across the world will be the largest one of its kind in both China and the world.
