On a recent day, the Yangtze Industrial Economic Institute, Nanjing University, released the 2019 China Import Ranking. The report analyses the imports of provinces/municipalities and cities, sources of imports, related industries, regional customs offices, as well as imports of high-tech zones and economic and technical development zones in China. On the ranking involving provinces/municipalities and cities, Sichuan comes 10^th among its counterparts and Chengdu 8^th among its peers.

Notably, the Chengdu Hi-tech Development Zone (CDHT) holds top spot in terms of imports among China's 46 high-tech zones, with a total of US$27.9 billion, which accounted for 1.3% of China's gross import-export volume, as well as 30% of the 46 zones' total in 2018.

In the first three quarters of this year, the CDHT Comprehensive Boned Zone accomplished a total foreign trade volume of RMB273.9 billion (excluding that of the Shuangliu park), a year-on-year growth of 28% , contributing 57% to Sichuan's total and ranking first among all of its counterparts in China for 18 consecutive months.
