485 European Companies Invest US$4.5 bln in Chengdu

Business people and representatives gathered together to exchange views on hot-button issues of common concern.
Themed "Silk Road New Trade," an event to promote the industry synergy and trade cooperation between Chengdu and European countries was held November 25 here in the city. Business people from France, Germany, Italy, the UK and Austria, as well as representatives from related trade associations, social institutions and consular agencies of European nations in Chengdu and Chongqing gathered together and exchanged views on hot-button issues of common concern.

During the event which will last till November 30, the business tours and visits of the guests involve the Chengdu Tianfu New Area, Chengdu High-tech Zone and Business & Innovation Centre for China-Europe Cooperation, etc. And they are also offered with interactive lectures on Chengdu's opening-up policies and urban planning.
"It's hoped to introduce Chengdu's all aspects to more European business people and establish a bridge for communication and exchanges between the two sides, so as to expand the Europe-Chengdu industrial partnership and open a new chapter for the ties between both parties. "

Statistics show that the total import and export volume of goods between Chengdu and European countries amounted to RMB74.19 billion in 2017, a growth of 59.8% year on year. Up to now, a total of 485 European companies, including 80 Fortune Global 500 companies which have settled in the city, have invested nearly US$4.5 billion here. 56 Chengdu companies have made business presence in Europe, with a registered investment of US$1.2 billion, and about 2,000 enterprises in the city have established direct economic and trade relations with their European partners.
